following THE performance of La Viuda
In 1961, María Irene Fornés' first play was recognized and published by La Casa de las Américas, Cuba’s prestigious literary and arts organization, but aside from an early Actors Studio presentation and a recording for radio in Mexico City, the play seems to have been kept under wraps for decades. Join Fornés biographer Gwendolyn Alker, Distinguished Teacher and Associate Arts Professor of Theatre Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, who unearthed and produced Fornés’s remarkable Evelyn Brown: A Diary last season, in conversation with members of the creative team of La Viuda about the process of restoring La Viuda to the NY stage.
